Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 347 U.S. 483, was a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the Court ruled that American state laws establishing racial segregation in public schools are unconstitutional, even if the segregated schools are otherwise equal in quality. The Brown family had lawsuit over school because their child was forced to travel a mile for school every day. The blacks and the whites did not have equal facilities. This was legal in the eyes of the law because of the law Separate but equal. Most people did not believe in this and no place in education. However, the Precedent of pleassy v Ferguson which upheld legality of Jim crow but African Americans think that is should be over turned. Thought history Blacks have been treated differently than (white schools are better than black children)Lack of resources worst teachers, materials.
